Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
The KashLog Companion extension does not send your financial data to KashLog servers. Transactions and categories move only between your browser and your private Apple iCloud database, using Apple infrastructure.
Data the extension handles
Transactions and categories you add or view in the extension are read from and written to your private iCloud (CloudKit) database over Apple's CloudKit Web Services API (api.apple-cloudkit.com). This is the same data your KashLog iOS app syncs. KashLog does not operate a server for this data and cannot read it.
Apple sign-in
Syncing requires signing in with your Apple ID through Apple's own sign-in page. The extension never sees your Apple ID password. After sign-in, Apple issues a session token that the extension stores in your browser's extension storage on your device and uses only to access your private iCloud database.
Data stored in your browser
The extension stores your iCloud session token and a local cache of your categories and recent transactions in extension storage on your device. Removing the extension deletes this data from your browser. Your iCloud data stays in your iCloud account and in the KashLog iOS app.
Analytics and tracking
The extension contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code. It does not collect browsing history, page contents, or any data from websites you visit.
Permissions
- storage - keeps your session token and local cache on your device.
- identity - opens Apple's sign-in window and receives the sign-in result.
- alarms - schedules periodic background sync with iCloud.
- api.apple-cloudkit.com - the only host the extension communicates with, to sync your data with iCloud.
Limited use
All data the extension handles is used only to provide its single purpose - adding expenses and syncing them with the KashLog iOS app. It is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising or creditworthiness purposes.
